Fundraisers took on a tandem skydive from 10,000ft over Sandown Airport last week all in aid of Age UK IW.
After the weather forced a postponement from earlier in the week, the fearless fundraisers experienced an unrivalled aerial view of the Isle of Wight on Wednesday (9th) and Thursday (10th August).
With their sponsorship money still coming in, more than £5,000 has been raised so far.
Amongst the team was a super-supporter and real adrenaline junkie, Helga, aged 73 – on her 4th jump in aid of Age UK IW.
The youngest jumper was just 16 and taking her first jump. Others taking part had chosen to celebrate their milestone birthdays by taking the plunge while raising money for the charity. We are enormously grateful to everyone who took part and helped raise that amazing total.
Maria Bunce, Age UK IW’s Chief Operating Officer said:
“Obviously our primary aim is to raise money for the charity but we also want to be able to offer a fun way of doing that. We run this Skydive every year – so if you’re tempted to feel the thrill of a tandem jump while raising funds for an independent, local charity, keep an eye out on our website for details of how to be involved next year!”
Helen Randall, Age UK IW Fundraising Officer, said:
“Huge thanks go to our sponsor, Jamie, at RenoDrain for supporting this event. Age UK IW is an independent charity and 100% of all fundraising support we receive stays on the Island to help us enable older people to live well independently.”
