A 34-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of a host of motoring offences following an incident involving a moped yesterday evening (Sunday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called at around 19:12 to a report that a moped was being ridden in a dangerous way on Gunville Crescent in Gunville.
Officers attended the scene and made an arrest.
A 34-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of:
- Drive whilst unfit through drink
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Fail to provide specimen for analysis
- Drive a vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence
- Use a vehicle without third party insurance
- Common assault of an emergency worker
- Obstruct/resist a constable in execution of duty
The arrested male remains in custody at this time.
UPDATE ON WEDNESDAY 13TH AUGUST – Lewis Harry Dewick, 34, of Cross Street in Newport, was charged with assault of an emergency worker. He is next due to appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 9th September.
What a complete waste of space this person is. these moped and electric scooter and electric bike problems are escalating.Moore innocent people are going to be injured.
They need targeting. Hopefully the public will report them to the Police.
