Midfielder Sam Kirby has left East Cowes Victoria to join local Wessex Division 1 rivals Newport.
At the start of this season, Sam had been dual signed for Vics and Island League West Wight. He then had a spell with Vectis, before appearing in the East Cowes Vics squad over recent games.
Sam is expected to feature in the Newport squad for the game against Whitchurch on Saturday.
Newport IW FC have said:
“Newport are pleased to announce that Sam Kirby has signed from East Cowes Vics. Sam is a technical midfield player and brings more competition into our midfield areas for the rest of the season.”
Newport co-manager Joe Butcher commented:
“We were looking to strengthen our midfield options. Joe Craig is off travelling, and we’ve had some other injury and availability problems in there.
“Sam’s a player with Wessex experience and will bring in some more competition and experience to the side in this area. He will go straight into the squad tomorrow against Whitchurch.”
