A major, worldwide IT outage has forced the closure of McDonald’s stores this morning (Friday). Thousands of restaurants across the UK have been affected, alongside international outlets including in the US, Japan, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It’s understood the technical glitch hit at around 06:30. Many Islanders will be disappointed not to grab themselves a Breakfast Wrap or a quick coffee this morning, with both the Ryde and Newport stores among those affected. It is unclear when the unprecedented outage will be resolved, but many will be hoping it is before the 11:00 breakfast cut-off. A spokesperson for McDonald’s has said:
“McDonald’s restaurants are experiencing an IT issue that’s impacting their ability to process orders. Our team is working to rectify the issues as soon as possible, and we thank customers for their patience.”
UPDATE @ 07:50 – The Isle of Wight’s restaurants, in Ryde and Newport, have now re-opened and are trading as normal.
