UPDATED: Emergency services are working to extricate the occupant of a car that has crashed on Middle Road near Calbourne this morning (Thursday).
Police, fire and ambulance crews are currently on scene near to Pump Lane – between Calbourne and Carisbrooke – having been called at just before 09:00.
The road has been closed in both directions whilst fire crews work to free a man who has become trapped as a result of the single vehicle collision.
Southern Vectis say their Route 7 buses operating via Newbridge will divert via Elm Lane until further notice.
UPDATE @ 09:38 – The male casualty has been freed from the wreckage of the car by firefighters from Newport and East Cowes. He is due to be conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.
UPDATE @ 10:13 – The road has now re-opened and the vehicle is being recovered.
