A 29-year-old man is in custody following an incident in Shanklin last night (Thursday), in which the man took to the roof of a block of flats.
It was just before 18:00 that Police were called to a domestic-related incident on the High Street, at the junction with Palmerston Road, as first reported by Island Echo.
Some 2 hours later, officers cordoned off the area whilst officers continued to speak to the individual.
At just before 20:45, he willingly came down from his position and was subsequently arrested in Yarborough Arcade.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that the 29-year-old has been detained on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage.
He remains in custody at Newport Police station at this time.
