Police armed with a riot shield entered a property and detained an elderly male in Ryde last night (Monday) after he made threats to paramedics.
Officers were called to the top of Harding Road, Oakfield at 20:26 in response to a call for assistance from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, which had deployed a paramedic crew and an operational commander to a residential address.
Armed with a shield, officers entered the property and detained a male in his 70s under Section 2 of the Mental Health Act.
He was taken to hospital under Police escort.
