Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Ryde in which a man suffered serious injuries.
On 1st June at around 02:15-02:20, it was reported that a man was punched in Union Street in Ryde, causing him to fall and hit his head on the floor.
The victim, a man in his 20s from Cowes, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, but has since been discharged.
The man who allegedly punched him has been described by witnesses as white, aged between 20-30, short in height and stocky build. He had short brown hair and was wearing a light coloured top.
Officers are carrying out extensive enquiries in order to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and identify those involved, including reviewing CCTV footage and speaking witnesses who were in the area at the time.

UPDATE 30th July – A 27-year-old man from Ryde has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of cannabis.
He has been released on bail until 23rd September.
