A man in a distressed state and threatening to jump from a cliff top in Shanklin prompted the closure of the cliff path near to St Boniface Road this afternoon (Thursday).
It is understood that Police and HM Coastguard responded to concerns for the welfare of a man near to The Hideaway Cafe between St Boniface Road and Delphi Road at around 13:00.
Officers spent several hours talking to the man, who was successfully talked down.
Emergency teams left the scene and the path was reopened by 16:45.
