A man arrested after an armed police incident in Ryde earlier this year has been released with no further action.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Armed response officers were deployed to Field View, off Bettesworth Road in Haylands, after reports of a disturbance involving a man allegedly armed with a sword.
The incident, which began shortly after 19:00, resulted in significant damage inside a terraced property.
The situation was safely resolved before 21:00 when the man was escorted from the house and taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment and assessment. No injuries were reported.
Armed Police from the mainland had to be hurried across the Solent in response to the situation.
The 23-year-old, who was at the centre of a major response by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary on 24th April, had been on bail pending further enquiries.
Police have now confirmed that the man, who was initially arrested on suspicion of common assault and criminal damage, will face no further action.
