MAN ARRESTED OVER EARLY HOUR BURGLARIES IN RYDE

hampshireconstabularycrestA 25-year-old man has been arrested and bailed in connection with a series of burglaries in the Ryde Esplanade area during the early hours of yesterday morning (Saturday).

Police say they have been made aware of 3 burglaries so far which took place yesterday between 01:30 and 02:30.

Properties in Nelson Street, Castle Street and on the Esplanade were targeted and a number of small items from laptops and mobile phones to wallets were taken.

A 25-year-old has been arrested and questioned on suspicion of burglary and has been bailed until 24th October, pending further enquiries.

Hampshire Constabulary are reminding people to keep doors and windows locked where possible to help prevent opportunist thefts like these. This latest incident comes just over a month after a spate of burglaries in the same area of Ryde.

Officers investigating the incident say they are keen to hear from anyone else who thinks they may have been a victim but hasn’t reported it yet or saw anything suspicious in the area at the time.
