A 20-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a 16-year-old was struck by an E-bike in Ryde earlier this month, but Police are still appealing for witnesses.
As first reported by Island Echo, it was on the evening of Sunday 5th January that a pedestrian was injured after being hit by an E-bike on High Street on Ryde.
The pedestrian, a 16-year-old girl, sustained injuries but these were not serious. The E-bike did not remain at the scene.
Officers have been conducting a number of enquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage of the incident, and have arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving.
He has been released from custody but remains under investigation while we conduct further enquiries into this incident.
A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson has said:
“As part of enquiries, we are keen to hear from any witnesses to the incident, and ask anyone in Ryde town centre – especially the High Street and surrounding roads – with CCTV or doorbell camera footage to please check your footage from between 20:00 and 21:00 on Sunday 5th January, to see if you have captured an E-motorbike with 2 people on board, either being ridden or pushed.”
