Police were called to Yaverland early this morning (Thursday) following reports of a verbal altercation between a man and a woman.
Officers attended the scene at Yaverland Car Park, between Bembridge and Sandown, where they located the 2 individuals.
It was then that an allegation of assault was made by the woman involved. As a result, a 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault. He remains in custody at this time.
It is understood the pair are known to one another.
Yaverland Car Park was closed for a time.
