Police are carrying out a search of the derelict Ocean Hotel in Sandown this afternoon (Sunday) following reports of an incident involving a man with a knife.
A number of officers – including those from the Joint Operations Unit – are in attendance at Sandown Esplanade.
They initially responded to the area at just gone 13:30.
Island Echo understands that an incident between a group of children and an unknown number of adults has prompted the large scale emergency response, which includes a local dog unit.
3 people have been detained so far but the search of the derelict hotel, which sits between the seafront and the High Street, continues.
