All are welcome to next Saturday’s (2nd December) big switch on of the spectacular Long Lane Christmas Lights display in Newport.
Terry and Sue Ramplin have been lighting up their home at 68 Long Lane for over 17 years and in the past 3 years alone have raised a staggering £12,500 for charity. For 2017 the magical Christmas display will be raising money for the Isle of Wight Ambulance Community Defibrillator Scheme and Challenge & Adventure.
The official switch on will take place at 18:30 on Saturday 2nd December with entertainment getting underway from 18:00. There will be a special bagpiper appearance and music from the Vectis Corps of Drums. Visitors can expect to be surrounded by festive spirit and the occasional blast of snow!
Cllr Lora Peacey-Wilcox will switch on the lights.
Terry has been spending most days since October sorting, fixing, arranging and hanging up the lights. Once the lights are switched on, Terry will be outside welcoming visitors every evening in the run up to Christmas.
Long Lane is the Star Display of this year’s Light up the Wight competition – details of which can be found at www.islandecho.co.uk/xmas. You can vote for your favourite Christmas Lights display from Monday 4th December!
