Rumours of Isle of Wight Distribution and Acclaim Logistics cancelling their Red Funnel contracts as a result of the recent issues experienced by the cross-Solent firm are untrue, bosses have confirmed. A post in a local Facebook group appeared this afternoon stating that the distribution company – along with some other local firms – was going to cancel its contracts with Red Funnel and move all operations to Wightlink. To many, the post seemed real and the reasoning behind it plausible, given the plethora of issues that Red Funnel have been experiencing in the last week or so. However, having contacted Isle of Wight Distribution, it has been confirmed to Island Echo that this isn’t the case. Chris Hall, Commercial Director at Isle of Wight Distribution, has told Island Echo:
”Isle of Wight Distribution and Acclaim Logistics deny the rumours of them withdrawing their services from Red Funnel Ferries and will continue to work with both ferry companies.”
Chris said he had received several panicked messages from customers following the publication of the post. Currently there is a revised Red Funnel timetable in operation until 9th August due to issues with Red Eagle.
Major distribution depots in Southampton = Red Funnel. Long way around otherwise.
