The Little Fox Baker, run by Becky Fox, has donated over £5,000 to a cancer treatment fundraiser for Island mum Susan Bulmer.
Susan, a mum-of-4, needs to raise vital funds so that she can undergo Chemosaturation – a revolutionary cancer treatment that costs a staggering £120,000.
Helping raise some money for this good cause was something that Becky – who helps run The Yarbridge Inn – wanted to get involved with, so she started a simple raffle.
When the raffle – with the main prize initially being 1 of her handmade cheesecakes – was launched on 28th March it was hoped that a generous total would be reached, but the generosity of the public has shone through with over 2,500 raffle tickets sold.
As the number of tickets purchased increased, businesses on the Island got involved and began to donate other prizes to the raffle.
The raffle closed on 5th April, with a total of £5,122 sent to Susan’s JustGiving page. To date over £34,000 has been raised for Susan’s treatment.
On The Little Fox Baker Facebook page, Becky has said:
“What an amazing rollercoaster of a week. What started out as a little cheesecake raffle with the hope of raising a couple of hundred for local lady Susan to get vital Cancer treatment snowballed into this incredible figure.
“I’m humbled at the incredible generosity you have all shown from buying tickets, to fantastic prize donations, to sharing my page to get the word out
“I really hope this money goes some way to helping Emma and her beautiful mum Susan get that life-saving treatment.”

What’s the point of paying into the NHS if they can’t give you life saving treatment unless you pay for it yourself? Best of luck to her
Don’t worry.
By this time next year we will all be paying for all of our healthcare ourselves. Just like we now do with dentistry.
And the real laugh is you will still be paying the same in tax and NI.
And WHY? Because WE all have to fund all those arriving into the UK daily breeding ever more and NONE have paid in yet get all the treatment for free.
Always was enough cash in the NHS BEFORE mass immigration. THINK, it is NOT coincidence that now there isn’t enough to treat our own people
£7million a day on hotels isn’t it?
There’s a lot of £120k’s in that.
How on earth is the country expected to spend £120000 plus on one patient for treatment that
might not work. No country would be be be able to cope with these costs.
Could you imagine paying into the NHS every week from your wages for 30 years never really needing any treatment in that time then suddenly you get diagnosed with something like that and being told it’s not covered by the NHS there must be some way money that she has paid into the NHS over the years can be given back to her to help towards her treatments.
The NHS are becoming like Car Insurance companies.
Car Insurance companies love taking monthly payments,
but when they have to pay out
they go all shy.
The same ‘how on EARTH’ we can fund imm’s in hotels costing MILLIONS as well as those already here in jails, courts, and state funded homes and children.
I know where I would rather my taxes were spent
All these comments are worth their weight in gold.. isn’t it about time we all came together to stop the mess of our NHS.. ruined by unworthy that come over here, get their opp then bugger off..we really do need a government that stands up for our Britishness !. Fear to say it’s not going well, as our own MP seems to have other ideas
Well done Becky Fox,I see you have done lot’s for charity and the Less fortunate.
So kind hearted,One of the Selfless.
