A local coffee and ale house in Ryde is celebrating a successful first full year as it continues to grow from strength to strength.
What once was known as The Star Inn, the pub on Ryde High Street was refurbished and reopened back in August 2021 as The Star Coffee & Ale House, serving craft beers and artisan coffee from 09:00 – 21:00.
A successful first full year of trading has seen the premises win an award for innovation in their 1st summer and an award in the best business and commercial category of the Ryde in bloom awards – despite not having a garden.
Rob Madigan and his partner Lesley moved to the Island from Central London and are established publicans with a lot of experience.
Rob has told Island Echo:
“Our trip advisor reviews have been amazing, we are number 1 in Ryde and 4th for the whole Island in the nightlife section.”
“We are entering a few comps for 2023. We are still here and we are about to have a wonderful year.”

well done to you all. your folk night is brilliant as well.
This is a fine example of how to ruin a perfectly good pub.
This is Ryde, not Shorditch…..ffs.
fairly empty now, people get in there but the sprall across the street from his ‘expansion and pavement grab’ pisses me off.. Londoners lol, i prefer normal pubs.
He’s a Liverpudlian actually.
There are plenty of other pits to drink in.
thats why i dont drink in that sh*thole mate lol
It wasn’t a perfectly good pub – if it was then it would still have been in business – it was the quality of the clientele that kept most of the locals away
You two certainly deserve it. Turned the Star into a new type of place, pleasant atmosphere..
Great experience……lovely food and good selection of beers etc
Nice pub nice atmosphere but you don’t own the pavement people have a right of way and closing a 9 is not good
