Firefighters from 3 different stations were called to St Mary’s Hospital this morning (Friday).
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports that a light fitting was smouldering in the maternity department at around 07:45.
The fire was deemed to be out upon arrival of crews, who ventilated the area.
Appliances from Newport, Cowes and Ryde responded to the emergency.
