Yarmouth RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat has launched in response to a Mayday call off the Isle of Wight.
Solent Coastguard received the call for help at around 11:30 this morning (Thursday).
A 35ft motor cruiser has reported smoke issuing from the engine room.
The lifeboat crew are now with the casualty vessel.
UPDATE – The motor cruiser was towed to the safety of Yarmouth Harbour, it has been confirmed.
On arrival, Yarmouth lifeboat was tasked to relaunch by Solent Coastguard.
Yarmouth RNLI headed west out of the Solent for a second time, where they located a casualty vessel that had suffered from fouled stern gear, making it impossible for them to use their engine.
In the strong ebb tide, they were assisted by the lifeboat and towed to Lymington Yacht Haven where they were able to be lifted out and assessed for damage and seaworthiness.
Yarmouth lifeboat returned to her berth and was ready for service at 16:30.
