Monday 11th March – Friday 15th March 2024
• Zoe Elaine Davies, 42, of Union Street in Newport, pleaded guilty to theft from a shop and possession of a controlled drug of Class B – cannabis. She was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs. • Callum Earle, 33, of New Street in Newport, was handed a 12-month community order with 120 hours of unpaid work attached for 2x benefit fraud. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £114 surcharge. • Natasha Cavanagh, 38, of St Andrews Street, Cowes pleaded guilty to drink driving (130). She was handed a 4-year driving ban and ordered to complete a 12-month community order with 30 rehabilitation days attached. She was fined £518 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £114 surcharge. • Jermaine Jack-linden, 40, of Upper Highland Road, Ryde pleaded guilty to theft – other. He was made subject to a 12-month community order with 40 hours of unpaid work attached. He was ordered to pay £339 compensation, £85 costs and a £114 surcharge. • Roobin Jones, 19, of Arctic Road, Cowes pleaded guilty to taking without consent (TWOC), driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance, as well as burglary dwelling and theft – no violence and keeping away child in care without lawful authority. He was handed an 18-month community order with 35 rehabilitation days attached. He was disqualified from driving for 6 months. • Joshua Van-Praagh, 29, of Howgate Road, Bembridge pleaded guilty to drug driving (cannabis) and drug driving (BZE). He was banned from driving for 17 months and made subject to a 12-month community order with 15 rehabilitation days attached. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs with a £114 surcharge. He was fined £120 for driving without insurance. • Luke Harding, 45, of Locksley Drive, Ferndown, Bournemouth pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified and using a mobile phone/device whilst driving. He was handed 6 penalty points, fined £921 and ordered to pay £85 costs. • Brendan Frampton, 48, of Embankment Road, Bembridge pleaded guilty to 4x possession of a knife/sharp pointed article in a public place, possession of a controlled drug of Class A – Cocaine and possession of a controlled drug of Class B – cannabis. He was handed a 3-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £154 surcharge. He must complete 15 rehabilitation days. • Norton Downer, 46, of Madeira Lane, Freshwater pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug of Class A – cocaine, possession of a controlled drug of Class A – other and possession of a controlled drug of Class B – Cannabis. He was fined £60. • Timothy Young, 56, of Spring Gardens, Ventnor pleaded guilty to theft from a shop. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £61.90 compensation, £85 costs and a £48 surcharge. • Andrew Shrimpton, 24, of The Hillway, Fareham pleaded guilty to drink driving (96). He was banned from driving for 36 months and made subject to a 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work attached. He was ordered to pay £85 costs with a £114 surcharge. • Conna Woodford, 26, of The Rogers, Shanklin pleaded guilty to 2x criminal damage and assault a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm. He was made subject to a 12-month community order with 25 rehabilitation days attached. He was ordered to pay £500 compensation, £85 costs and a £114 surcharge.

Really cutting down on knife crime it needs to be an instant prison sentence
Disqualified driver – given 6points?. Benefit fraud X2 – given 120hrs unpaid work and 12mth community order – was it for large amount?,many many more out there claiming PIP etc to fund drug habit and avoid work .
Seems to me if you are from the mainland you get hit hard, but if you are from the Island , it is a slap on the wrist.
Nope, you get hard hit if you’re hardworking and/or own a business – it’s wrong. Everyone should have the same treatment / fine. Why’s it fair that those already heavily contributing financially to society is having to pay even more. No incentive to work in this country anymore.
Van Praagh was the one smuggling Albanians into the country and was jailed a few years back – why not send him back to his cell if he’s not learned to abide by the law?
