Firefighters were called out to tackle a fire within woodland on the Osborne Estate in East Cowes last night (Thursday).
At 22:23, 1 appliance from East Cowes was mobilised to a fire in the open on the former Royal Estate.
240 metres of hose was run out to reach the fire situated in a wooded area.
It took some 2,700 liters of water to extinguish the fire and damp down the area.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spent around 2-and-a-half hours on scene, standing down at just gone 01:00.

Surely fires don’t just happen. Someone must have started this in these damp conditions.
Beggars belief….
Wait until thousands more homes are built.
With jobs vanishing at an alarming rate here, then the bored, unemployed youth have no reason to get up, and just use the darkness of night to do as they wish, and that is often anti social and costly to the rest of us.
Vote this council out next time, as they live well away from the carnage they happily inflict on others.
