A last-minute announcement has revealed that Lake’s Skew Bridge will be closed tonight to motorists this evening (Monday).
Island Roads says the closure on the busy stretch of road, that has been revealed just hours before it is due to come in to force, is to allow further work on the Skew Bridge Replacement Scheme, which has so far seen the pedestrian bridge removed for refurbishment, as previously reported.
The closure will be in place between the Sandown Road (Cemetery Road junction) for a distance of 100m south from 19:00 to 07:00 tomorrow.
Motorists will be diverted via Sandown Road, Newport Road, Whitecross Lane, Sandy Lane, Landguard Manor Road, Landgaurd Road, Marine Cross Road, Regent Street, Atherley Road, and Wilton Park Road.
Diversions on bus routes 2 & 3 will also be in place according to Southern Vectis.

check your facts. This is not last minute. There have been signs with the closure dates on Cemetary Road for the last week.
