UPDATED: Police are attending a significant incident in Totland this evening (Sunday).
Officers and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service descended on the grounds of Weston Manor on Moons Hill shortly after 18:30.
Although paramedics have now left the scene, a local dog unit and other response officers remain. Detectives from Newport CID also appear to be in attendance.
No visible cordon has been erected but the property’s owners are stood with Police in the car park.
UPDATE @ 20:50 – Police remain on scene at Weston Manor tonight as investigations continue.
Officers have entered the property with evidence bags.
Those staying in the nearby camping site say they haven’t heard or noticed anything unusual until the arrival of Police over 2 hours ago.
Hampshire Constabulary are yet to comment on the nature of the incident.
UPDATE MONDAY – Island Echo understands that Police are investigating the death of a young male, thought to be in his 20s.
Sources say the body of the man – a former Medina High School pupil – was found in the porch of The Lodge within the grounds of Weston Manor yesterday evening. The death is not thought to be suspicious.
Hampshire Constabulary are yet to comment on the incident.
UPDATE MONDAY @ 11:16 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that the body of a 22-year-old man was found yesterday.
A spokesperson has said:
“We were called at 6:09pm on Sunday 13 August after the body of a 22 year-old man was found at a property on Moons Hill, Totland.
“Officers attended and the death is not being treated as suspicious.
“A file will be prepared for the Coroner in due course.”
