No injuries have been reported despite a large emergency service response to a road traffic collision in Freshwater earlier this afternoon (Monday).
Island Echo understands that the collision saw a vehicle collide with a telegraph pole near the junction with Southdown Road. A phone line has been left strewn across the road as a result.
Emergency services were called to the West Wight at around 13:00.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service mobilised 2 appliances to the scene fearing the occupants were trapped.
Isle of Wight Ambulance Service mobilised 2 ambulances to the scene, but no injuries have been reported.
The A3055 (Military Road) has been closed at the junction with Afton Road. It is expected to remain closed for some time whilst electrical engineers assess the situation.
