A SHANKLIN man has been charged with possessing a knife following an incident in Lake on Tuesday.
Armed officers from Hampshire Constabulary rushed to the scene outside The Cooperative store in Lake at 17:30 on Tuesday following concerns raised by members of the public who had dialled 999. It was reported that a man was acting suspiciously with a weapon in the area.
Ricky Tegg, 33, of North Road, Shanklin, was arrested at gunpoint and was taken to Newport Police Station for questioning. Mr Tegg was carrying a knife and two blades at the time of the incident.
The knife-wielding man has been bailed back into community to appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 20th July.
