The Isle of Wight’s Keegan Brown has crashed out of the PDC World Darts Championship following a sensational game.
Brown – nicknamed ‘The Needle’ – conceded to James Wade 4-3 at the Alexandra Palace in London this afternoon (Sunday).
The match got off to an exciting start with Brown easily taking the first set, but a missed double put the second set in jeopardy for a time. With James ‘The Machine’ Wade under pressure from a chorus of boos in the background, Brown came back to take the second set.
Wade bit back and won the third set but it wasn’t long until Keegan, who works at St Mary’s Hospital, won 3 clear legs to take the fourth set. 3-1.
Brown struggled in the next set and some confusion appeared to occur at the oche, leading to Wade taking a vital leg. 3-2.
Another close set saw the Brits on 2 legs a piece and the match win was in The Needle’s grasp, but he lost the deciding leg to give Wade a fighting chance of taking the match. 3.3.
The Machine changed his game and really came back to take the first and second legs in the pivotal set. Brown managed to cling on for a time and took the next leg to stay in the game, but it all came to an end when Wade threw a double for the leg, the set and the match.
