The Isle of Wight and the National Trust’s Needles Old Battery will be featured on Channel 5 this Friday when naturalist Kate Humble’s coast walks series is aired.
‘Kate Humble’s Coastal Britain’, which will air on TV screens at 20:00 on 1st April, sees Kate take a wintry walk around the western corner of the Isle of Wight, where she holidayed as a girl.
Starting on Yarmouth’s wooden pier, her journey begins with a boat trip to the Needles, which her Victorian guidebook recommends as the best way to view these impressive chalk stacks, and then continues her walk with a visit to the Needles Old Battery and the Needles headland.
Jo-Anne King, the Natural Trust’s Welcome Manager, says:
“It was great to meet Kate Humble on her walk around the Needles Headland – we were able to show her the breath taking views you have of the Needles from the parade ground of the Needles Old Battery and share the secrets of the New Battery and its rocket testing days .”
‘Kate Humble’s Coastal Britain’ Episode 5 will broadcast Friday 1st April at 20:00 and will be available afterwards on the My5 catch up service.
