John’s Club, the Island Charity that provides a unique service offering Social and Recreational activities for disabled people, people with learning difficulties and mental health, is happy to announce that they will be opening their new Community Café, warm Space and Learning Zone.
Located at 62 High Sreet, in Shanklin, the site of the charity shop was previously operated by the charity.
This new project aims to make the space a community space with 3 specific aims.
- A café that will provide low-cost teas, coffees and simple food at very affordable prices.
- A warm space which people can use for free. As we feel there is a need for warm spaces into the evening the café will stay open until 20:00 to accommodate this.
- A learning zone, this space is fully Wi-Fi connected and we will use it to provide free or very affordable training initially targeting digital skills.
We are happy to be growing the charity again and feel this will a valuable community asset.
John Phillips founder of the charity said:
“In these difficult times, I believe that if John’s Club members can offer our community a place to come for warmth, meet with people, make use of our learning zone and recreational area, it will be of great benefit to many.”
The café will be open from from 12:00 on Thursday 2nd February 2023.
