Colwell Bay’s The Hut has been shortlisted for Restaurateur of the Year – Independent at the 2026 Cateys, one of the UK’s most prestigious hospitality awards.
The awards, hosted by The Caterer, will take place on 7th July at JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London.
Widely regarded as the pinnacle of achievement in the UK hospitality sector, the Cateys celebrate individuals and businesses setting new standards across restaurants, hotels and foodservice.
The shortlisting places The Hut among the country’s leading independent restaurant operators, recognising more than a decade of work building a popular dining destination on the Isle of Wight.
Located on the shoreline of Colwell Bay, The Hut has developed over 13 years into a well-known venue, attracting returning guests with its Mediterranean-inspired food, relaxed setting and ‘holiday for the day’ experience.
The business is led by Matt Adams and George Adams, with a focus on maintaining a strong team culture and consistent service.
Matt said:

Winners will be announced at a ceremony in London this summer.

All correct. Went there once years ago. Never again. Ignored and average food. Unless you arrive in a Sunseeker they are not interested. Not a place for Islanders

Try walking through them when they are out having a fag on the prom and it`s busy, and living close by when they come out at night after a session.
