An Isle of Wight tradeswoman has shared her thoughts on the barriers facing women entering the trades, after appearing as a guest on Fix Radio’s new podcast, Tradeswomen Together.
Courtney Sandison, who owns CS Country Contracting, was invited onto the show to discuss the realities of being a woman working in what remains a largely male-dominated environment.
Fix Radio – known as the station for tradespeople – recently launched the Tradeswomen Together podcast to shine a light on female experiences across construction, agriculture, landscaping and other skilled trades. The series aims to inspire more women to join the industry by sharing honest stories from those already succeeding within it.
During her appearance, Courtney spoke about how many women feel unsure about where to start when considering a trade career. She said that while opportunities do exist, finding them can be difficult, and many potential entrants are put off by long-standing stereotypes about the workplace being male-dominated.
Courtney said that raising awareness, sharing experiences and supporting each other are essential steps toward encouraging more women to take up tools and build successful careers in the trades.
Listeners can hear Courtney’s full interview on Fix Radio’s Trades Women Together podcast, available now at www.fixradio.co.uk and on major podcast platforms.
