Isle of Wight-grown tomatoes are taking a starring role on the menu at Jeremy Clarkson’s new Cotswold pub, The Farmer’s Dog, which is built around a strict British-only sourcing policy.
Clarkson’s pub, located in Chadlington and featured in the hit Amazon series ‘Clarkson’s Farm’, only serves food and drink made using products entirely sourced from the UK. This week that includes an Isle of Wight Tomato Salad, priced at £12, which features tomatoes grown in Arreton alongside watercress, pickled onion and a garden dressing.
The dish is served as part of the pub’s lunch menu.
The use of Isle of Wight produce on the menu highlights the quality and reputation of locally grown ingredients, placing the Island’s farming in the national spotlight.
Clarkson’s latest venture has gained attention not just for its sourcing rules, which exclude staples like ketchup and Coca-Cola due to their overseas ingredients, but also for its premium pricing. Despite the costs – including pies priced at £24 – Clarkson has said the business often runs at a loss per customer, but insists on sticking to his British-only ethos.
Jeremy Clarkson has previously spoken about the challenges of sticking to British-sourced ingredients, noting the high cost and limited availability of items like black pepper and tonic water. However, the Isle of Wight tomato remains firmly in season – and on the plate.

We know! We were there today and saw them on the menu. Shame Isle of Wight tomatoes don’t open a shop on site. I’ve tried to buy a huge sack from them, but they aren’t interested.
So pleased you’re using IOW tomatoes; they havlways been amazing (ask my stepson Richard Lainson- h worked there for quite some time).
Have you tried the IOW Garlic Farm produce? Richard’s sends it to me in Ireland believe you me it’s gorgeous and well worth a check out.
