Data has revealed that just 18% of Isle of Wight A-Level entries received A or A* grades in 2025 – the lowest percentage of any county in England.
Nationally, a total of 28.3% of grades awarded were A* or A – up from 27.8% in 2024.
Despite this national uptick, data published by the Daily Mail last week revealed that just 18% of Isle of Wight entries were grade A* or A.
Top of the class were students in Rutland, East Midlands, with around 41% of all entries graded A* or A.
2025’s figure is higher than that of 2024 but is still down on the figure in 2021 – in the middle of the COVID-19 Pandemic when exams weren’t completed – of around 36%.
