Louis Sheasby recently travelled to Boston in Lincolnshire to compete in the second round of the British Rowing U19 trials.
The Isle of Wight rower formerly competed for Shanklin & Sandown Rowing Club and is now at Hartpury University and College in Gloucester.
Louis – who is just 16 years old – was at the trials as a first year junior. He had a single time trial on the Saturday morning, racing over 5k in rough conditions and came 6th out of 35 competitors beating some well established rowers.
For the second part of the trials on Sunday, Louis was paired up with the person closest on times to him from Saturday to race in a double again over 5k.
Louis and his doubles partner finished an impressive 3rd in this race, having never rowed together before.
With these impressive results from both days, Louis is set to be invited onto the next part of the trial assessments. This is a closed trial in Nottingham at the National Water Sports Centre at the end of March, where he hopes to continue his goal of making into the under-19 squad and representing Great Britain in the summer.
