Shanklin Town Councillor Patrick Barry has shared the following letter, which he has also sent to the Isle of Wight Council and local MP Bob Seely, expressing his concern that published mortality figures do not represent the true picture on the Isle of Wight…
Letter to the editor – 23rd February 2024
“Having read the Isle of Wight Council’s Public Health Report 2022/23, I noted the report stated: “Life expectancy on the Isle of Wight is good and people on the Isle of Wight are now living for longer than ever before”. “The data justifying this statement was determined by comparing 2020 data to 2003 data; consequently, I have to question the sagacity of this statement and therefore alert the Isle of Wight Council that – based on data from 2021 to 2024 – the probability is that the statement is inaccurate and offering a false sense of security. “I do not dispute that in the year 2020, that statement was accurate, but is it appropriate to use data from 2020 for a report written in 2023 when Office of National Statistics data proves the Isle of Wight has significant excess mortality from 2021 onwards? “If it isn’t appropriate then I submit to the council we have a problem with excess mortality that this report omits to explore. “You will note even at the height of the pandemic, the excess mortality was not significant (greater than 5%). Only in 2021 onwards do we see an excess greater than 10%. “I hope you will find this excess mortality as concerning as I do. We need to know what is killing people and the ages of the people concerned and develop strategies to reduce harm now and in the future.

You have a point.
When the narrative has changed significantly imo the organisation should hold fire and try to incorporate timely data. But do the wheel cogs move fast enough for them to do this? Probably not. Similar problem with housing data.
At least the timely data is out there, and some people should be paying attention.

I Wouldn’t take the lancet as gospel – firstly they talk their own book and secondly, history has shown on many occasions where the state medical chiefs have been woefully wrong.
They are more likely to be correct than you jose. Pretty obvious that our crumbling health service is letting people down and leading to many avoidable deaths.
the health service is not crumbling – if it stuck to only seeing those who are genuinely sick or have suffered an accident, instead of offering pointless things like liposuction, gender reassignment and other things, that are not essential to the functioning of the human body then there would be plenty of capacity.
also – instead of the health service offering free healthcare to freeloading, parasitic dinghy people and other health tourists and instead just focused on genuine UK citizens, then there would be even less pressure.
Ha ha. NHS funded liposuction surgery is a very rare event, as are the other things that you mention. The NHS waiting list for elective treatment in England is 7.7 million! 7.7 million!!!! The NHS is obviously screwed due to a lack of staff and resources, poor management, and an increasingly sickly population.
The higher figures could be due to the difficulty people had in being able to access medical care during and after the pandemic, hopefully this situation will improve but even so there will be a time lag.
We need to know what is killing people This Council putting council tax up each year wasting more money on things we dont want giving themselves a bigger pay rise so they would be comfortable when they retire and cutting the services we need with the worry and the stress of having to pay more money this is what is killing people
Unfortunately this Council works only for their own good, and their very close select buddies.
Any truth is twisted to suit themselves.
We the residents are treated with complete disregard and contempt, useful only for supplying the funds for them to continue their comfortable lifestyles.

Dr John Campbell is not a GP, he writes training books for the NHS. Also, as with much of what you lot say, you often misrepresent what he says. He was a strong supporter of face masks, which is a good thing, but as that did not match your argument you attacked him, now he says something you like he should be listened too?! Make your mind up.

Dr Campbell clarifies his doctorate in his bio and often repeats this in his videos. However as being a GP doesn’t automatically confer good critical thinking skills I’m not sure what your point is?
Face masks are not a ‘good thing’ as correctly challenged by many and as long suppressed research confirms. In fact masks have been proven to increase risks of respiratory and skin conditions as well as poor mental health, esp in children, who also suffer decrease in educational attainment. Info is available if you choose to look.
Dr Campbell has, like many, many other people, accepted that his initial views were based on lies, fraud and poorly ‘modelled information’ and is challenging the whole Covid agenda.

There was a time when you could see your GP about any concerns you had, but those days are long gone. The refusal by GPs to sit in the same room as their patient is causing delays on first contact and patients aren’t being seen until they are in A&E in a state of collapse, and their problem is too far advanced.

I think if you express views against the government, they come round and put something in your water, so watch out. We have more in common with Russia than you think.
Cancer patients seriously ill didn’t attend hospital for appointments or check ups because they were terrified of getting covid. Many worsened as a result. Others languished on wards with no visits from family and weren’t treated properly either and so died or became seriously ill.
Operations cancelled, piled up in the months afterwards too so some people just gave up.
Others suffered mentally with depression throughout lockdown and some succumbed to domestic violence and abuse. Especially women and children.
The elderly were lonelier than ever before and missed their families and interactions.
The sheer enormity of the ridiculous rules we now know were futile impacted our lives although we didn’t know any better then.
Given that the govt have just brazenly ‘adjusted’ excess death figures, removing many thousands from the data, Mr Berry is right to be concerned.
The huge increase in excess deaths is a global issue and cannot be explained by treatment delays alone, though this has an ongoing effect.
The correlation with now exposed improperly tested COVID jabs cannot be denied and many countries/states are investigating and taking legal action against Pharma, govts and individuals, as should we.
It’s a disgrace that ignorant or complicit people continue to deny the reality of death and injury caused by these poisons.
True, also weirdly nobody died of flu in the covid years even though thousands do every other year!
