The 2nd Isle of Wight Heroes Convention at Quay Arts in Newport on Sunday has raised £1200 for the Isle of Wight Young Carers charity YMCA.
During the Heroes Convention, Rob and Raven launched a brand new comic company Caulkhead Comics; Dan Digby – Comic Art – released his first comic book Hardcore Hare.
The convention included a comic artist Q&A panel with 4 very talented artists: Glenn Fabry, Andrew Sawyers Dan Digby and Adam Gaterell Arts.
Pirate the Skull Captain and Huxley wowed the crowds in the cafe area.
Vectis Productions had a table in the event room where they talked to people about their new upcoming film ‘Vectis – The Last Bastion.
Johnny 5 Replica Nottingham joined the event with their replica Johnny 5 from the movie Short Circuit.
Nicky from Isle of Wight Heroes Convention 2 has said:
“Today was hands down the most epic event we have ever done.
“It’s quite a mission to put on a totally free event for the community. A lot of hard work, a lot of planning, long hours and a mass amount of passion.
“The whole day from start to finish was packed with people. We couldn’t believe the turnout and the cosplay community pulled it out the bag.
“As of right now we have raised a total of £1200 for the YMCA, Isle of Wight Young Carers Charity. Wow! I am blown away. This is from donations on the door, raffle tickets and print sales.
“We know that times are really hard at the moment, especially this year and we really appreciate your donations so much. This will make a huge difference to the islands Young Carers
“I am so proud of what we have achieved. The Heroes – Comics, Gaming & Collectibles team are like a family. And it feels like everyone involved in the con is a huge extended family now too!
“And yes, we will be back next year! I will be announcing a date for IW-Heroes Con 3 very soon.”
