Girlguiding Isle of Wight leader Emily Knight was recently selected to attend a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, hosted by The Prince and Princess of Wales and held in the week following the Coronation.
Members of the Royal Family attending, in addition to the Prince and Princess of Wales, included The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. HRH Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh is The President of Girlguiding.
Emily was a member of a team of other volunteers from Girlguiding’s SW England Region and following her visit Emily said:
“I had the privilege to represent Girlguiding Isle of Wight to help volunteer at the Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. I was able to go inside the palace gates, walk the palace grounds and have tea and cake alongside over 7,500 specially chosen guests.
“I was also lucky enough to be chosen out of the crowd to meet members of the Royal Family – the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. I also saw, up close, the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Edinburgh. Such a lovely day and an amazing opportunity – memories which will stay with me forever.”
Emily and the other Girlguiding members were presented with a Certificate of Assistance for their volunteering at Buckingham Palace.
