Organisers of this year’s Isle of Wight Day have confirmed that the event, which was due to take place on Saturday 17th September, has been postponed.
It is in light of the sad news of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.
The event was due to be held at Brading Roman Villa on what is likely to be the day of the Queen’s funeral.
A revised date will be announced in due course.

I still have absolutely no idea what exactly Isle of Wight day is.
Basically not a lot, running around dressed as a stupid orange crab by the looks of it. Pointless.
Nothing but made up BS to tell us how lucky we are to live here.
I wonder who comes up with these stupid ideas ?
GUTTED
Me as well, I had my orange lycra specially cleaned for this weekends lycra fest and now I can’t even sport it next week with the addition of a couple of adapted cycle/ tap dancing clogs my dear wife made me….
The funeral is not until 19th so it could have gone ahead. However I have successfully managed to avoid it for the last few years.
It wouldn’t even be so bad if the so called ‘Isle of Wight day’ was a FIXED date on the calendar. It’s worse than Easter as regards a moving celebration! At least Remembrance Day (Sunday) is identified as being the Sunday closest to the 11th of November! Isle of Wight Day seems to be a ‘stick a pin in the calendar’ option!
