An Isle of Wight police officer will face a gross misconduct hearing later this month following allegations he gave false information and failed to follow instructions during an investigation.
PC Kane Brookes is due to appear before a misconduct panel at the Holiday Inn, Eastleigh next Monday (14th July).
It is alleged that in June 2023, PC Brookes gave false information to several colleagues regarding an individual who had breached their bail conditions by having contact with him.
Further allegations state that between May and October 2023, PC Brookes failed to follow instructions from his supervisor to carry out enquiries linked to a mobile phone seized during an ongoing investigation. It is claimed he also provided false information about the actions he had taken in relation to those enquiries.
These allegations are said to breach the Standards of Professional Behaviour relating to Honesty and Integrity as well as Duties and Responsibilities.
Island Echo understands PC Brookes has been on restricted duties, on full pay, for the past 18 months.
It is known that PC Brookes was previously in a relationship with PC Tia Johnson-Warne, who was dismissed from the force for gross misconduct after groping colleagues on a boozy night out, as previously reported by Island Echo.
The current allegations against PC Brookes are being treated as gross misconduct. If proven, they are considered so serious that they could justify his dismissal from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary.
A lying copper. Say it isn’t so. My faith in humanity has been shaken to its very core. What a creature, it makes me wonder how many more lies he has told throughout his career and how many cases could be compromised because of his clear inability to tell the truth. Karma catches up with everybody in the end. Im sure the prison will hire him, they take in the dregs. Hampshire constabulary needs to take a serious look at its recruitment, if anymore officers get sacked we will have to have the cadets patrolling the streets.
If those in the police force cannot stay within the law , what hope is there for everyone else ?
