The Caravan and Motorhome Club Isle of Wight Centre has raised £1,141.04 for Maggie’s Southampton, a cancer support centre located at University Hospital Southampton.
The amount was raised during the Centre’s monthly rallies in 2022, through raffles, competitions, auctions, and challenges, making it one of the highest amounts raised in the Centre’s history on the Island.
Maggie’s Southampton offers Cancer support to Islanders, providing free one-to-one help and information from its professional team in a calming space. The Centre is located in the grounds of the Hospital next to the blue car park entrance (off Tremona Road), close to the radiotherapy unit.
The funds raised by The Caravan and Motorhome Club Isle of Wight Centre will help support the vital services provided by Maggie’s Southampton.
Jeff Johnson, Chairman of The Caravan and Motorhome Club Isle of Wight Centre, has said:
“There probably isn’t a family on the Island who hasn’t been impacted by the battle against a Cancer diagnosis. It’s been a privilege supporting Maggie’s in the way they themselves support anyone and everyone in that battle.”
A spokesperson for Maggie’s added:
“As a charity, fundraising is a constant challenge in these hard times and so we are very grateful for the Caravan and Motorhome Club support”.
For 2023, The Caravan and Motorhome Club Isle of Wight Centre has chosen ‘Home-Start IOW’, a charity that supports families on the Island.
