A number of Isle of Wight businesses came away with a clutch of trophies at this year’s Beautiful South Awards on Monday evening (25 April).
East Afton Farmhouse at Tapnell Farm shared Gold in the Wedding Venue of the Year category at the event hosted at The Grand Hotel in Brighton.
In the Glamping Business of the Year Award, Tom’s Eco Lodge at Tapnell Farm was rewarded with Silver, while Sibbecks Farm at Whitwell was commended in the category.
Hovertravel was recognised for its off-Island patient transfer service in the Resilience and Innovation Award, winning Silver in a hotly contested category.
The luxury self-catering Haviland Cottage in Ventnor was commended as the Dog Friendly Business of the Year, with judges recognising that is provides a dog bedroom with it’s own en-suite shower room!
Wightlink came away with Bronze in the Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award.
Will Myles, Managing Director at Visit of Wight and a Board Director at Tourism South East, said:
“The Beautiful South Awards are the pinnacle of tourism excellence for businesses operating in the South of England, it is fantastic to see once again the Island businesses performing so well, which just goes to show the amazing breadth of quality tourism products that our visitors can experience time and time again. Where is the “Highest Rip Off Price” award or the “Most Disgusting Hotel” award, surely they could have some awards for the crap they deliver.

WIGHTLINK?? Are they having a laugh? If they deserve an award, that sums up business on the Isle of Wight. These awards are obviously worthless.
