Pearly DobsonPearly Dobson – a female competitive bodybuilder based on the Isle of Wight – has raised £5,000 to support her friend, Anita, who is facing the challenges of Motor Neurone Disease (MND). The funds raised will be used to create a customized outdoor space for Anita, providing her with a sanctuary to relish the beauty of nature, serenity, and cherished moments with loved ones. Pearly has initiated a fundraising campaign that has resonated with the local community and beyond. Through various events, sponsorships, and the unwavering support of friends, family, and well-wishers, the sum of £5000 has been amassed. Anita – diagnosed with MND – faces daily challenges, making accessibility and comfort paramount. The raised funds will transform Anita’s outdoor space into a haven where she can find solace, enjoy the outdoors, and share moments of joy with her loved ones. The project includes adaptations to ensure accessibility, comfortable seating, and an environment that complements Anita’s journey. The Isle of Wight community has rallied behind Pearly’s campaign. Local businesses, organizations, and individuals generously contributed, demonstrating the remarkable spirit of giving on the Island. As the funds are secured, Pearly is excited to collaborate with local designers and contractors to bring the vision for Anita’s outdoor space to life. Regular updates on the progress of the project will be shared on her website pearlybodybuilding.com Pearly says:
“Anita was my boss at Laura Ashley in Newport over 15 years ago we built up a great friendship over the years working for Laura Ashley in Newport. “Anita is a fun-loving full of life beautiful person, so when she was diagnosed with MND it was devastating. Anita is still so loving and funny she doesn’t let MND get her down and still tries to live life to the full. However, she is now unable to walk and has to use a wheelchair and has 24-hour care thanks to her carers and her amazing husband Carl and the support from her amazing friends. “Our mission is to give her a garden that she can enjoy on sunny days, to enjoy the outside again. “I am so amazed at the kindness that has been shown toward my campaign for Anita, thank you to everyone.”
While the initial fundraising goal has been achieved, ongoing support is encouraged. Donations can still be made through the Just Giving page.
