Local female athlete Charlotte Fisher has completed the TransGranCanaria in her international debut.
TransGranCanaria is a 130km race with a staggering 7,000m of elevation gain across the rugged and breathtaking terrain of Gran Canaria.
Starting at midnight, Charlotte pushed herself for just over 20 hours, battling 26 degree heat during the day, whilst climbing the equivalent elevation of Everest.
Charlotte’s has relatively short experience in the sport, having only been running for 2 years, with just 11 months of mountain experience.
Charlotte has said:
“I knew I could do the distance and the elevation, but hitting that 20-hour mark meant pushing myself faster over that terrain than I ever had before.”
Crossing the finish line in 20 hours and 16 minutes, Fisher achieved 18th place overall for females and 10th in her age category.

Charlotte added:
“The ups and downs of the race were tough, but the island gave me the most beautiful scenery.
“I’m grateful every day for the body that carried me across those trails and helped me reach the finish line.”
Charlotte is setting her sights on returning to the upcoming UTS 100M race in May, dubbed the hardest race in Europe with 10,000m of elevation, where she plans to continue pushing her limits.
Charlotte continued:
“My journey is just beginning. I’m really excited to see where this takes me.”
