Isle Access has announced the appointment of Steve Wells as their dedicated Cycling Coordinator. Steve will spearhead the charity’s accessible cycling ‘Isle Riders’ events, providing unique opportunities for individuals and groups to become active members of the Isle Riders community. These events are designed to include everyone, even those who cannot ride a traditional 2-wheeled bike, ensuring that everyone can experience the joy of cycling. For more information or to get involved, Steve can be reached at [email protected] or 07784 655252. Isle Access are also delighted to share that they have been selected as a recipient of the IOW Randonee’s charitable donations for the second consecutive year. The generous £3,000 donation will be instrumental in establishing a new Cycling Club. This club will create a welcoming environment where everyone can feel a sense of belonging and camaraderie. In addition to our cycling initiatives, Isle Access is also now running a swimming club for disabled individuals. Hosted at The Heights in Sandown every Saturday, this club offers a fantastic opportunity for participants to enjoy swimming in a supportive and accessible environment. This is all thanks to WightAid and their generous donation of £2,000, which will allow Isle Access to use both pools starting from September 7th. This support is crucial in helping to provide these essential services to the Island community. Isle Access remains committed to promoting inclusivity and accessibility in all their activities. Everyone is invited to join them in these initiatives and help make a difference.

Teach the Lycra brigade to cycle correctly
Not in rows side by side holding each others hands
P*ssing off motorists.
If you drive a car. You need to read up on the new rules. You probably never had a bike.just a metal box around you. P*ssing off cyclists.
Not read the highway code for cyclists. Does it mention being courteous to other road users, wearing hi viz clothing, wearing cycle helmets, obeying traffic lights and perhaps using the cycle lane when available?
Majority of the idiots cycle at night with NO
Lights on their bikes.
I would lock them up, they are a danger to society
I’m sure it says something about wearing a yellow flashing light on top of their hats to indicate slow moving traffic.
Maybe cyclists to stop riding on pavements etc unless it is actually signed as a shared path!
Maybe cars could stop parking on pavements unless they are happy for me to scrape along their paintwork as I squeeze past.
I have seen angry mums scrape against vehicles that are
selfishly parked on Pavements blocking the walkway.
Good on them, they should not have to walk out in the road
because of selfish uneducated idiots.
IW Council should impose a Parking on Pavement BAN
Islandwide.
London have the right idea.
Cyclists are selfish uneducated inconsiderate B’stards
I have no time for Morons
Says someone who hasn’t heard of full stops.
I have no time for hysterical babies… like you.
The thumbs downs speaks volumes about the state of ‘riot Britain’!!
Classic hysteria.
Hopefully he stays sober enough to remember what a bike looks like, let alone how to ride one
Is there some inwardness to this comment?
Just pop into the Crispin from opening time onwards and you’ll see what i’m getting at…..
I’m sure Steve and the charity will do great work.
Cycling is promoted as a ‘greener’ form of transport, but if you take into account the thousands of vehicles held up by them on Britain’s roads everyday cycling contributes more to pollution than vehicles driving normally.
Time they paid for mandatory insurance, tax and had safety tests.
The most selfish and entitled bastards on the roads sadly.
No, that would be old farts in MG SUVs
A fellow warped mind, lol, like your thinking there:)
It’s ok but helps only a very small minority for a very short time. There are far more daily access issues that affect more people that need addressing first.
I can’t see the point with so many manual and electric vehicles available for disabled people and I used an adult trike.
It beggars belief that an article about a charitable organisation dedicated to helping people have experiences that the rest of us take for grated is hijacked by the anti-cycling
brigade! It really is bad form and speaks volumes about the kind of people
posting their puerile and ultimately futile comments on here. You should be
ashamed, although I doubt you are capable of shame, let alone intelligence! I
urge some of you to read books, or go back to school to get some basic
education, oh, and learn some courtesy while your at it.
