The Isle of Wight’s MP, Bob Seely, has revealed he is backing Penny Mordaunt in her bid to become the new leader of the Conservatives and the country’s new Prime Minister.
Penny, who is the MP for neighbouring Portsmouth North, is hoping to clinch the support of Conservative members to be parachuted into Downing Street later this year.
Confirming his support for Mordaunt, Mr Seely has said:
“I’m delighted to be supporting my near neighbour Penny Mordaunt for Conservative Leader and Prime Minister. She took Portsmouth North from Labour in 2010 and has since won it a further three times. This means Penny knows how to win to keep us in office.
“Penny has proved herself to be an effective minister, whilst also demonstrating public service as a Royal Naval Reservist. She’ll get our party back on track.
“Penny knows the Isle of Wight and visited us in March. I hope to welcome Penny, as PM, back to the Island soon.”
The next Prime Minister will be revealed on 5th September. Before that, several rounds of voting will take place to whittle down the 11 candidates to just 2.

This is the Penny Mordaunt who had to rapidly revise her promotional video because it used images of Oscar Pistorius as well as using clips of several other Paralympians (who didn’t murder their girlfriends) without their permission?
If people this thick had any real power they’d be truly dangerous.

Poor Penny… she would be wise to distance herself from deeply unpopular Bob Seely. He threw his weight behind an island deal = failed. He threw his support behind the Conservatives at the last council elections, dooming them to failure. The latest was to support a proven liar in Johnson who has crippled this country.
Support from Bob Seely creates discredibility not credibility. It is harmful.
“Penny knows how to keep us in office” no mention of making the lives of everyday brits better. Just to stay in power. I think this shows how little they care about you all. I like how he failed to mention people asking to be removed from her campaign video too. 😛 British politics has boiled down to “fuck it, i’ll give it a go.”
She’s a neighbour and might do us a favour down the line.

It’s like the Eurovision Song Contest, supporting your neighbour. But I can’t crow. Our MP is backing Jeremy Hunt. In the end both will vote for the best person, not their chum.
Isn’t she keen on giving away women’s rights to have women only spaces such as hospital wards, toilets, changing rooms, domestic violence refuges etc? It’s a definite no from me
Isn’t it funny – although that’s so not the right word – that all the ‘leadership contenders’ are now crowing about how the government should ‘put things right’, when they were ALL part of this shockingly bad government and/or propped up and feigned loyalty to that moral vacuum and self-serving waste of DNA Boris Johnson. The complete failure of this tory government, and the ‘market-driven’ religion that seems to drive them all, coupled with the lack of ethics or social awareness, as been aided and abetted by the cabinet, all Tory MPs and all those standing now to be our latest political messiah.
