The next phase in an Island-wide review of traffic regulations has been announced, detailing changes to traffic restrictions on roads across the Isle of Wight.
The Isle of Wight Council is publishing proposed minor changes to on-road parking in Ryde, Fishbourne, Brading, Bembridge, St Helens, Wootton and Seaview and as well as being able to make comments by the usual letter or email, residents will now be able to do so online on the local authority’s website.
The plans were drawn up and agreed with the Police before consultation took place with town and parish councils as well as local councillors at the end of 2021.
The original designs were amended to reflect the feedback given where possible, and now a formal consultation is to be launched in the area before any decisions are taken.
The Eastern neighbourhoods that form part of the current consultation are the second phase of a 6-part Island-wide review of local traffic regulations.
Colin Rowland, Isle of Wight Council’s director of neighbourhoods, has said:
“These changes are intended to make the roads in this area safer and easier for everyone to use.
“Most of the changes proposed are very minor, but we recognise a small change can sometimes make a big difference to local people’s lives.
“This time we are able to offer the local community the facility of commenting digitally on their phone or computer, alongside the usual methods of writing or emailing the council.
“The online forms will be open to feedback on the proposed Traffic Regulation Orders from tomorrow, so people in Ryde, Fishbourne, Brading, Bembridge, St Helens, Wootton and Seaview can take a look at the proposals and submit their views by 29 July 2022.”
Signs with details of proposed changes will be displayed in every street affected, for example attached to lamp posts. The online link is https://www.iow.gov.uk/Council/OtherServices/Traffic-Regulation-Orders/Traffic-Regulation-Orders-Live-Consultations.
It is also possible to obtain a copy of the changes by emailing [email protected]. This is also the email address to send any comments on the proposals.

Whats the point of commenting? It either falls on deaf ears, gets ignored, taken no notice of or the comments get removed.
SAY THAT AGAIN WHEN THE GREAT RESET HAPPENS AND THE STASI KNOCK ON UR DOOR
Quite agree no point whatsoever they did it where I live and the residents still park on the double yellow lines and no parking tickets are ever issued
The are no Parking rules on the Island
Parking on the pavement is an offence. The police just do nothing. A know two different people who use mobility scooters. They often have their route blocked by cars on the pavement.
Also time to stop disabled badge users from parking where ever they want to. The badge does not entitle you to park on double yellow lines. Don’t believe me? Go check on the government website. The badge only gives you access to disabled parking. Double yellow lines are there for a reason, they prevent the roads from being blocked up and also protect other road users from people parking in dangerous locations.
NO S**T SHERLOCK……yawn.
This is a direct quote from https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-blue-badge-scheme-rights-and-responsibilities-in-england/the-blue-badge-scheme-rights-and-responsibilities-in-england#where-can-i-park
‘Badge holders may park on single or double yellow lines for up to 3 hours, but in general not where there are restrictions on loading or unloading – indicated by yellow kerb dashes and / or signs on plates.’
If you are going to get your information from the website, make sure you get it right.
It’s people like you that feed people false information, so get your facts right before you comment.
Exactly! And the traffic wardens (or whatever complex name they go by these days) are VERY selective on who they choose to give tickets to.
Great Preston Road Ryde is where the UNEDUCATED Park on Pavements
Cannot teach the uneducated!
Health and Safety does not exist on the Island.
The MP & Council are useless.
There are no speed cameras or ANPR on the Island
The island is a Dinosaur with Law and Order
Sadiq Khan would run this island correctly
You are joking ,Sadie Khan would make this island worse, the IOW would become all congestion charge, put a Mosque in every town, and be anti government
Wrong blue badge can park unless 2 yellow lines on kerb fact but people park on double yellow lines where I am all the time nothing is ever done silly as they could make a fortune
Next phase of the Southern Vectis wish list to move / remove parking from roads where the buses can’t get past each other?
YOU WILL OWN NOTHING AND YOU WILL BE HAPPY
That is very true, that is the WEFs plan
I think it’s terrible.
This should include ‘Roadworks that have been going on Forever’!! I’m talking about Station Road in Ningwood. Workmen faffing around for MONTHS!! Where’s the compensation for everyone’s fuel, having to take alternative routes that are miles out of the way, day after day.. and for all the businesses that are suffering?! It’s a joke!!!
They didn’t listen when they put yellow lines around half of East Cowes. Even though the town council and residents complained.
