Island businesses will take to the water at Island Harbour this Saturday (30th August) for Wessex Cancer Support’s first ever Dragon Boat Race, with 10 teams competing from 13:00.
The event, sponsored by Rouse, WH Brading and Biscoes Solicitors, will see teams from Robin Hill, Snap Fitness, PC Consultants, Isle of Wight Round Table, Biscoes Solicitors, WH Brading, Datum Electronics, JMC Hire, Solent Cruises and WRS racing against each other.
Spectators are encouraged to attend, with access via the lock bridge at Island Harbour.
A donation to Wessex Cancer Support will be requested on arrival to help the charity continue its work.
As well as action on the water, there will be a bar, food and shoreside entertainment. Families can enjoy face painting, balloon modelling, and a prizegiving ceremony, followed by an after-party DJ set from Our Girl G between 17:30 and 20:00.
Parking at Island Harbour will be limited, so organisers are asking visitors to use public transport and arrive on foot where possible.
All money raised from the day will support Wessex Cancer Support, which provides free local emotional support to anyone affected by cancer.
