IRREVERSIBLE? BORIS SAYS WORK FROM HOME, WEAR A MASK AND GET YOUR PASSPORT READY

Islanders have tonight (Wednesday) been left thinking ‘what is the point of being vaccinated’ as Prime Minister Boris Johnson announces that further COVID restrictions are coming into force.

Despite previously stating that July’s roadmap was ‘irreversible’, Boris has tonight confirmed the following ‘Plan B’ changes:

  • Face masks must be worn in all indoor locations except food and drink establishments and gyms from Friday
  • Work from home (if you can) from Monday
  • COVID passport required for large events and nightclubs from next Wednesday (proof of double jab or negative LFT)

The restrictions come into force just weeks before Christmas and as a result of the Omicron variant. The Government says that the number of cases is growing every 2 to 3 days, but there has been no suggestion of spiralling deaths or hospitalisations.

Article continues below this advertisement

Cases are up 11% in the past 7 days, but deaths have actually fallen by 0.8%. There has been an ever so slight increase in hospitalisations of 0.8% – at a time of the year when hospitals are notoriously busy anyway.

Social media is awash with anger this evening as many question the efforts to get vaccinated, when it just doesn’t seem to be enough to get life back to normal. Around 90% of the country (12+) has received at least 1 dose of the vaccine and around 80% have had both. Some 37% have already had the booster/third jab.

Former Prime Minister Theresa May today blasted ministers saying that the country must learn to live with COVID without stopping and starting sectors of the economy.

Islanders are urged to continue getting vaccinated, especially those who have not yet accepted the invitation of their first vaccine dose.

The vaccines have worked very effectively. These new restrictions are in place to prevent the unvaccinated clogging up the hospital ICU beds. Official figures from ONS state that 90% of ICU beds are taken up by unvaccinated covid patients.

“work it out sheep”
Unfortunately Surfingwithsharks, your lack of understanding of maths lets you down 🙁
if (from the article above) 80% of people have had 2 doses of vaccine, (probably more than 80% for the age range you quote), then from your figures, that makes you ~3 times less likely to be hospitalised if you are vaccinated…
whilst the vaccines won’t stop you catching it (but masks & social distancing do help) they will significantly reduce the likelihood of you dying from it 🙂

Probably because of those that are unvaccinated !!!!
How about those folk that cannot have the vaccine ???
Why are people so selfish and not being respectful of those that are very concerned by covid for various reasons ????
Some say live and let live …..
And yes we are going too have to live with covid ,and probably have annual jabs like flu !!!!!
But those that don’t wear masks sanitise etc please be aware of those people who do ….
Don’t push your way through to that pkt of biscuits wait a moment ….
If we are all respectful of each others feeling’s life will be much better for everyone….
And yes I have never stopped wearing my mask ,,,,,,
And it’s not because of Bojo it’s for those poor families that have lost a loved one and are still suffering everyday ….

What a stupid comment, the vaccines have been proven to lessen the severity of an infection.

The point of getting vaccinated is to protect yourself and others from Covid-19.

If Boris Johnson saying a thing was so isn’t enough of a clue that the exact opposite is the truth then we’ve learnt nothing from the past 2 years.

More nonsense from the country’s biggest liar and hypocrit. The new variant is not seriously harming anyone. The vaccination programme has worked at breaking the virus and it is time we were all stopped being lied to so that we can get on with life. The fools who are telling everyone to wear masks (that actually do nothing at all) should go and take a long walk off a short pier. This idiot of a prime minister is destroying the country and should be removed from office immediately.

The science supports that face coverings are saving lives during the coronavirus pandemic, and yet the debate trundles on.The country’s biggest liar and hypocrit, is you. Get a life your ingnorant way of thinking is the reason it’s still spreading and taking lives.
“Getting an education might be difficult, but it makes life easy. Being uneducated might be easy, but it makes you sound thick”. “An uneducated society will eventually turn into something lower than a herd of animals!”

If Boris told you that fire doesn’t burn would you jump into one? If you want the real science, not from so called experts paid to support the government’s lies, a virus particle is only one micron thick. The weave of your useless face masks has a gap of 20 microns, the virus goes straight through. Better to shut up and be thought an idiot than to open your mouth like you and remove all doubt. The only thing working against the virus is vaccination, everything else is political posturing, keeping idiots like you in fear.

The mask doesn’t stop the virus you dingbat, it stops your breath from spreading the virus further than it would if you did not have the mask. Blow against your hand, then blow against your hand with the mask on. Feel the difference?

“a virus particle is only one micron thick. The weave of your .. face masks has a gap of 20 microns, the virus goes straight through”
Yes Paul,!,..

but the droplets of ‘water’ you breathe out (when you’re spluttering out your anti-mask rhetoric), which would contain the virus if you had it, are bigger than the weave of your face-mask & therefore keep (most of) the virus you breathe out, in your vicinity & stop it spreading to people a distance away.

that is the whole point in wearing masks!

not to stop the wearer catching CV,
but to help to stop the wearer spreading it to others is they have CV (and either don’t know they do, or are too selfish to isolate if they do know)

We should stop insulting one another like this – it creates a toxic atmosphere of hate and strife. This is especially important when talking about our national leaders, who are having to make some very difficult decisions in changing circumstances.
It seems that whatever measures are decided, there will always be someone who will complain.

It just doesn’t help that he’s an idiot! I don’t agree that people say’ he’s not following the rules so why should we?’ However, he’s making c it a dangerous situation when it needn’t have been. I think we should all wear a mask and wash/ gel our hands as we should be to protect one another out of human respect and just get vaccinated to weaken the virus over time. Those not getting the vaccine and those not taking good care of their own health i.e smoking like troopers, are the ones clogging up hospital beds, it seems.
The vaccine and mask wearing has helped or what state would we have been in now if we didn’t have them in place this past year?
The childish ‘don’t tell me what to do attitude is just an excuse to not do the right thing and have a moan.

Agreed that the gutter press and media accelerate unnecessary panic. However now that the vaccines, masks, social distancing and good hygiene have proved to be our saviour, to all of the unvaccinated, selfish vaccinated so I’m ok not to wear a mask even if I do get it and spread it, I say that if Christmas is cancelled along with all the unnecessary restrictions now imposed it’s down to your shortsightedness and ignorance. Blame yourselves. You are reaping what you’ve sown – unfortunately because of you the rest of us will probably have to suffer too.

We are ALL likely to catch this within a year or so, no matter what we do, or don’t do.

Should a variant come which is far more deadly then, and only then will many take note and wear masks and abide by the rules, but not on hearsay, ONLY when bodies pile up, or if it a mutation starts killing many of the young.

Just live for now, and stop telling others what to do. IF you value your life then wear all the masks etc, have your jabs, but leave those who feel it is in vain alone.

Like nits, mumps, and flu, this is NEVER going away. Live with it until it take you.

globally, one child dies of starvation every three seconds due to starvation – that is about 10000 a day or 3.65m a year. As that doesn’t affect you rin tin tin – it clearly doesn’t matter

the vast majority of people will never even see a hospital over covid, let alone suffer from it – vaccines should be restricted to those that actually need them – not this arrogant, stupid, scattergun approach that is currently being undertaken, which is being led by people who are intelligent enough to realise that it is the wrong course of action.

even the medical establishment agreed that the right course is only to provide vaccines to those that need it, however, as they and the government feel it is too difficult, they are trying to force everyone to have something injected – that is coercion and will be rejected.

“vaccines should be restricted to those that actually need them”
Nice idea? ,.. but not thought through…

Unfortunately, as CV has (pre-vaccine) killed quite a lot of apparently healthy people, (and some of those who caught it, who were considered to be ‘at risk’, have survived) it would seem that it’s not possible to tell who “those that actually need them” are, until it’s too late to vaccinate…

How many people has Aids/meningitis/cancer/heart disease taken? Covid is flu and unfortunately flu kills people it’s the natural way.
Big pharma are making billions and do not want to stop any virus/illness. The more they prolong this the more money they make.
The rich get richer while the common people die and fight and argue among themselves. We are being lied to on a daily basis by people in power. It’s time to stand together and fight the real viruses that are in control. The government/big pharma/banks/billionaire pigs and social media.

It seems to me that like other virus causing illnesses like Mumps, Chook Poxs etc, that this is NEVER going to leave the human race now, ever.

So, all those who are afraid of dying from it, can wear masks, gel every few mins, and avoid as much as possible normal life, even after all their jabs, and let the rest of people take their chances in whichever way they choose.

Even if everyone on Earth was jabbed, this will still do the rounds as flu now does, for the jab doesn’t ‘kill’ it off.

Only when a more deadly mutant CV take the young or more able, and bodies pile up will most of us now bother to fuss around ever again.

viruses mutate weaker not stronger..if a virus kills the host its not very effective as a virus, so it moderates each varient to be more transmisable but less lethal, the perfect virus enters the host which in turn infects others without them knowing, the fact that data is being manipulated by the media shows how the omicron is not a threat even the drs in south Africa state its not a threat but the media say stay indoors while they rant on tv all maskless, if it were a danger they’d all be masked but they are not.

“viruses mutate weaker not stronger..if a virus kills the host its not very effective as a virus, so it moderates each varient to be more transmisable but less lethal”

you make it sound like you think viruses are intelligent??

Viruses mutate .. Fact
If the mutation makes the virus easier to catch, AND the infection caused makes it easier to spread to others (e.g. causes lots of coughing & sneezing for an airborne respiratory tract infection like Covid19) then the mutation will proliferate.  Killing the host as a result of the infection, after it has had a chance to be passed on, does little to affect its proliferation, one way or the other.
If it killed quickly, it would reduce the chance of spreading & would not proliferate.
So there’s no reason why a more prolific virus variant should not still cause death.

A ‘perfect virus’, as you put it, would make the host very ill, for a long time (& not necessarily kill them),  but also affect their rational thinking so they don’t care about passing it on to others,….
Mmmm… perhaps that’s what this new variant of covid does,.. turns people into anti-mask, anti-vax conspiracy theory champions??

You have no excuse not to get vaccinated.. I’ve heard it all from those who are anti .. it will change your DNA, there is no such thing as Covid, it’s a live virus given, they use foetus in the vaccines, it’s a way of controlling people, blah blah blah stupid reasons all the time – but interesting some folk I know – anti vaccines – were quick enough to call the NHS when they were so ill with it.
If back in 1952 when small pox vaccines were given to everyone, folk had refused, that would be rife now?
I pray it doesn’t touch you or yours.

As said my friend who was adamant (as was his entire family) about not being vaccinated.
He, his brother, his mother ended-up three to five days in hospital, on air/oxygen.
The other two brothers and a sister also had Covid but weren’t hospitalised.
What a pointless waste of hospital beds, just for the selfish reason of proving a point.
Meanwhile, people actually needing hospitals for ongoing/serious conditions have their diagnoses’ or treatments kicked further back in the calendar.
Absolutely unnecessary and negatively impacting the NHS’ ability to allocate care where it’s needed.
One thing this pandemic highlights is how much of the population thinks in an isolationist way. Exactly anti-society.
“Ooh the Govt wants to control us”, no numpties, the Govts already does control you – it’s called Taxation. (Rolling Eyes Emoji).

Not cancelled if people are sensible. We all know that we may catch a cold if we go out and about in the winter, but most of us take precautions by wearing coats, hats, scarves etc: to try and prevent that happening. What is the difference, is it such a hardship to wear a mask in public and wash your hands more often?

Erm, you are aware the common cold is caused by a virus that you breath in, right?

Wearing a coat, hat or scarf to prevent a microscopic virus is even more ludicrous than, well, wearing a face flannel.

You are so correct.
3 of my relations have suffered since having the vaccines.

1 is still being treated for a full body rash.
1 came out of hospital last week, she had her Booster and 2 days later was admitted to
Hospital with 2 blood clots on the lung.
1 is on medication for her breathing, now has pumps.

I work at the hospital and have had both jabs, I think its truly amazing how many people really have no idea, the vaccines DO reduce symptoms and reduce transmission BUT this virus isnt going anywhere regardless if your unvaccinated or vaccinated, so to the constant people THINKING it’s the unvaccinated you are very wrong…..regards to the numbers theres more vaccinated cases recovering than unvaccinated……after christmas there will be more intense restrictions and rules

No getting the vaccine is better to be safe than sorry… if people do not get it, the variants will continue to spread. If everyone had the vaccine the virus would not have effects more than a cold. No vaccine means more complications and more spreading… GROW UP AND THINK … some may have no symptoms yet can spread it to others… same as Flu and colds, some people no effect, but they carry the germs and spread to others.. THINK about others not just yourself for a change.

And the double vaccinated plus booster jab can still catch it and spread it. They are not immortal. WHO have stated that up to now NO deaths have been recorded concerning the Omicron variant. This lying government don’t want he media to hilite this. Be prepared for more and more jabs. If you have any spare money buy shares of one of the major Covid vaccination makers. 2022 will be a good year for them.

I can’t believe people are still buy into this BS. Pcr test… Proven not to work and refused by the inventor for use on sars 2004 ( bird flu) as I quote ‘it does not detect sars type viruses’ guess what covid is.. But nobbis is still using them, even fda have said they don’t work.
And my biggest issue… More vaxed than unvaxed have covid. The spike protein is not behaving how they expected. Its detaching from cells and floating off to guess where? Brain and other organs where it causes all kinds of problems. Don’t believe me, look up the doc that invented the mrna… Oh and before any one says Facebook BS, I actually study the REAL stats
