A trio of teenagers – who were arrested on suspicion of a host of drug and driving offences following a pursuit in Merstone earlier this month – have been bailed whilst investigations continue.
At around 21:00 on Tuesday 1st October, Police were involved in a pursuit of an Audi A4 after concerns were raised about the manner of the driving.
Initially, the vehicle refused to stop with the officers following German motor down Merstone Lane where the Audi crashed and Officers were able to box the vehicle in.
Following a search of the vehicle, 3 people were arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle dangerously, failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, possessing a controlled drug of class B, and drug driving.
They were a 19-year-old man from Shanklin, a 17-year-old boy from Sandown and a 16-year-old boy from Shanklin.
All have been bailed while our investigation is ongoing.

Lets have some proper grammar here, the vehicle isn’t capable of deciding to stop, why refer to a German motor when Audi would suffice?
Drug driving = a spell inside, no excuses.

Bring back the birch. This country is too soft on crime. The police do a thankless job, but are excellent in what they do. It is no good the police catching these scum and then have to endure loads of paper work, only for some old or out of date Judge or magistrate to give them a slapped hand. It would do more good to slap their arses in public, (I meant the offender and not the Judge or Magistrate) but then again, so as to give them a taste of what would happen if they re-offended. The parents should also be named and shamed as they are responsible for their upbringing.
