policecarroadblockclosedPolice are investigating an assault on a van driver in East Cowes on Christmas Eve and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The driver of a van parked on St David’s Road in the town was assaulted after confronting a male seen trying the door handle of the vehicle. The vehicle’s owner was able to drive off uninjured and nothing was stolen.

The would-be thief is now being sought for assault and is described as white, aged in his 30s or 40s and around 5ft 10ins tall. He is said to be of medium to stocky build and was wearing a black woolly hat, black jacket, black gloves and dark trousers at the time of the attack,
